Syracuse, NY - The Lazers Softball team had a very successful weekend going 4-0 after hosting the Lakers of Finger Lakes Community College and the Broome Community College Hornets.
The Lazers took Game 1 of Saturday defeating the Lakes by 8 runs in the 6th inning with a final score of 10-2.
Sophia D'Arcangelis contributed 3 base hits.
Emma Kelly,
Madison Henry, and
Jenna Mills each had 2 and Henry with a career high 4 RBI's. Carrying on the impressive offensive performance in game 2, D'Arcangelis added on 4 base hits going 7-8 on the day. Kelly, Henry, and Mills each added on 2 more hits in game 2. Game 2 ended with a final score of 7-3.
Game 1 of Sunday resulted in a final score of 5-1.
Alexa Sicina added another game won and held the Hornets to 1 run with a dominant performance on the mound pitching all 7 innings and recording 8 strikeouts. Base hits were recorded for OCC all across the board. The Lazers finished off the weekend with a 12-7 win.
Jazlynne Martin had a career high 5 RBI's with a a triple and an in-the-park homerun. D'Arcangelis went 4-5 with 2 RBI's moving her to a .479 batting average and .563 on-base percentage.Â
The Lazers began Sunday with a welcoming ceremony for their recruiting class of 2022. The program will add Kendall Cuyler (Mexico HS), Carley Cinquemani (Central Square HS), Aubrey Fraher (Marcellus HS), Bianca Desellems (Baldwinsville HS), and Olivia Colgan (Johnson City HS).
The Lazers will seek two more wins this Thursday, May 5th at 3:00pm and 5:30pm hosting Genesee Community College on their home field.
