Syracuse, NY- Sunday, the Lazers hosted the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks in a doubleheader matchup at the Onondaga Baseball Complex. The Lazers lost game one 1-0 in a defensive battle on the mound and could not bounce back in game two, losing 6-4.
Freshman starting pitcher,
Ryan Paige, led the Lazers on the mound in game one Sunday afternoon. It was a pitcher's battle in game one, with Paige pitching the full seven innings. In those innings, he faced 28 batters and had seven strikeouts, four walks, and three hits for one earned run. The Lazers could not get the offense going and lost game one 1-0.
Sophomore right fielder
Jake Humes and freshman left fielder
Mike Benedetto led the Lazers in game two offensively. Humes had two doubles and a run in three plate appearances, while Benedetto added a triple and two singles for three RBIs in four plate appearances. Sophomore starting pitcher
Devin Rooney battled for four innings on the mound striking out four batters, walking one, and giving up six hits for three earned runs. Sophomore pitcher and infielder
Seth Zurbruegg came in to pitch the final three innings striking out five batters, walking one, and giving up two hits for one earned run. The Lazers lost game two 6-4.
The Lazers will take on the Syracuse University Baseball Club Tuesday, April 12
th, at the Onondaga Baseball Complex in a single nine-inning game. The first pitch is set to take place at 7:00 pm.
