Syracuse, NY- Thursday, the Lazers squared off against the Finger Lakes Lakers in a doubleheader at the Onondaga Community College Baseball Complex. In game one, the Lakers used a two-run homerun in the top of the second to help propel themselves past the Lazers, 5-1. The Lazers battled hard in game two, where they won in walk-off fashion, 4-3.
The Lazers were led by sophomore center fielder
Eli Neth in game one. Neth had two doubles in three at-bats with one RBI. He also added a stolen base to the stat column.Â
In game two, sophomore pitcher
Devin Rooney led the Lazers defensively with eight strikeouts in six innings on the mound, earning his third win of the season. Sophomore pitcher
Seth Zurbruegg entered the game in the top of the seventh to shut down the Lakers, earning his first save of the season. Zurbruegg also added a pair of hits with one RBI in three plate appearances. Freshman shortstop
John "Jack" Scanlon also added three hits, one run, and one RBI in four at-bats.
The Lazers look to stretch their record to 13-1 when they travel to Canandaigua, New York, to battle it out against the Lakers in a doubleheader for the second time this season, Saturday, April 2
nd. The first game will begin at 3:00 p.m.
