Dryden, NY - The Lazers traveled to Tompkins Cortland Community College last night to battle it out against the Panthers in a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup. The Lazers were able to push their win streak to six with a 64-60 victory.
The Lazers came out in the first half defensively strong, holding the Panthers to 23 points on ten made baskets. This allowed the Lazers to create a 14 point lead going into the half, 37-23. The Panthers entered the second half strong shooting 41% from the field, but wasn't enough to propel them over the Lazers. The Lazers used their lead from the first half, and more efficient shooting in the second half to secure the road win.
The Lazers were led by sophomore guard
Jakhi Lucas and freshmen forward
Clinton Obi. Lucas scored 15 points while adding five steals, six boards, and eight dimes. Obi was a spark for the Lazers coming off the bench and adding 15 points as well. He shot 50% from the field and went a perfect 7-7 at the free throw line. Obi also added six boards and two blocks.
The Lazers look to bring their win streak to seven when they face off against Finger Lakes Community College Lakers Saturday, February 12
th at Allyn Hall Gymnasium at 4:00 pm.
