Syracuse, NY- The women's basketball team opened the season hosting a four team tournament with some of the top teams in the country. The tournament included our #6 ranked Lazers, #7 ranked Community College of Rhode Island, #8 ranked Rowan Gloucester, and #11 ranked Monroe-Bronx.
In the first round the Lazers edged out the Express of Monroe-Bronx with a 75-72 victory. The Lazers made timely shots down the stretch to secure the victory. Macey DeOrdio led the Lazers with 23 points, followed by Hannah Durand, who added 19 of her own. Zhane Holmes recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
In the championship round the Lazers lost a close one to the Community College of Rhode Island. A rough third quarter put the Lazers behind going into the fourth quarter. A late comeback attempt in the fourth quarter by the Lazers came up just short. Macey Deordio led the Lazers with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lazers will be back in action this Thursday, November 10th as they host Tompkins Cortland at 5:00pm.
