The Onondaga women's soccer team fell to Herkimer College who is ranked second in the nation on Thursday by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the
Lazers' move to 0-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the Region III play. Herkimer struck first with a goal in the 3
rd minute, making it 1-0. Onondaga scored a goal of their own minutes later to tie the game one. Six minutes later the Generals took a 2-1 lead. The next 20 minutes went scoreless until Herkimer netted their third goal of the half to make it 3-1 and the break.
The
Lazers' controlled most of the second half as they outshot the Generals 6-5. The Generals capped off the night with one more tally before the 90-minute mark extending their lead to 4-1.
Sabrina
Verdoliva scored the
Lazers' lone goal with the assist coming from
Caitlin Barry in the 6
th minute.
Hailey Niles led the
Lazers' with five shots on goal.
The
Lazers' recorded nine shots on goal during the game. Sophomore goalkeeper
Marissa Curtis recorded 10 saves and played all 90 minutes.
Onondaga returns to Lazer Stadium Friday, September 7 when they take on crosstown rival SUNY ESF at 4:00 p.m.
