The Onondaga Community College Men's Basketball team defeated Cayuga Community College, 78-73, Saturday afternoon to earn the 2018 Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) championship. The Lazers have secured the conference championship for the 2nd straight season with Saturday's win.
Nate Culter (Liverpool HS) led the Lazers with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. For his efforts Culter was named the Conference Tournament's Most Valuable Player.Â
Will Cutler (Liverpool HS) contributed 17 points and added 8 rebounds during the intense game.Â
Tyler Sullivan (Liverpool HS) also had a strong performance earning a triple double on the day finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.
Onondaga's Director of Athletics, Mike Borsz, commented on the repeat conference championship performance, "I'm incredibly proud of our team and coaches for fighting all season long, working together, and staying focused on improving every day. Those efforts paid off today by beating an athletic and competitive Cayuga team for the championship."
The Lazers now advance to the NJCAA Region III playoffs where they are the #3 seed in the 8 team field. The men will host #6 seed, Finger Lakes Community College, on Tuesday, February 27 in Allyn Hall Gym. The action will start with a 7pm tip time.  Â
