Box Score A little less than a year ago, the Onondaga Community College women's basketball team had just extended its Mid State Athletic Conference win streak to 104 games over an 8 year period when they traveled to Watertown to face conference foe Jefferson Community College only to see the streak come to an end.
Â
On Thursday the visiting Lazers avenged that road loss and improved to 3-0 in conference and 15-3 overall with a 63-48 win over Jefferson (7-5, 2-1) by overcoming a slow start that saw them down 11-10 after the first period of play.
Â
Onondaga employed a trapping half court defense that created turnovers and transition baskets in the second period and led to 30-16 halftime margin that Jefferson was not able to overcome.
Â
Samantha Britton (Kenmore West) once again led the Lazers in scoring with 20 points (16 in the second half) while
Rachel Scalisi (Fabius- Pompey) scored 13 points and pulled down a game high 8 rebounds.Â
Sydni Eure (East Syracuse – Minoa) chipped in with 10 points and 7 steals, and
Payton Noeller (Cato – Meridian) handed out 5 assists.
Â
Onondaga continues league play when they visit Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday, January 20 for a 2pm tipoff.
