Onondaga Women's Basketball defeated Finger Lakes Community College, 63-59, in a game that determined the MSAC Regular Season Champion on Saturday afternoon in Allyn Hall.
It was Sophomore Day for the Lazers, and the Sophomore Starting-Five celebrated their last regular season home game by scoring 18 of the team's 24Â points in the first quarter, ending the first with a ten point advantage.
After an even second quarter, the Lazers maintained the, 34-25, lead. The Lakers regrouped at the half, going on a, 10-3, run in the initial three minutes to cut the Lazers lead to just two points, but
Sam Britton knocked down five straight from the charity stripe to keep the lead. The Lakers surged again in the final two minutes of the third, draining two three-pointers in a, 10-2, run tying the game at 46 to enter the final ten minutes of play.
To start the fourth, Finger Lakes added to their third quarter run by making two quick buckets to capture their largest lead of the night, 50-46. Sophomore Captain,
Jordan Vaught silenced the Lakers with a swish from downtown, and her team responded with a, 7-0, run to seal the victory for the Lazers' tenth MSAC Regular Season Championship in the last eleven years.
Sam Britton scored a team-high 22 points, including 4 blocks and 8 rebounds.
Jordan Vaught went 4-for-6 from behind the arc for 16 points and dished out 5 assists.
Morgan Deland scored 10 and captured 6 boards.
The Lazers visit Cayuga Community College on Tuesday, February 21st at 5:30pm for the final game of the regular season. OCC will then host the Mid-State Athletic Conference Tournament next weekend in Allyn Hall. Game times will be posted after seeding of the tournament is complete, please check the
