Box Score #8 Onondaga Women's Basketball was defeated by conference opponent Jefferson Community College, 67-60, on Saturday afternoon in Watertown, NY.
The setback marks the program's first Mid-State Athletic Conference loss in seven years, breaking the streak at an impressive 106 straight conference victories.
Jefferson had a, 42-39, lead going into the half, cushioning their advantage through the third quarter, to give the Lazers an eight point deficit to start the fourth. With 3:30 left in the game,
Sam Britton captured an offensive board for a layup, drawing the foul, and draining the free shot for a three-point play.
Jordan Vaught responded with a quick steal and layup, cutting the Cannoneer lead to just three (54-57), but that was as close as the Lazers would get. Jefferson outscored Onondaga, 10-6, in the final minutes to seal the victory.
Sam Britton (19 points, 6 rebounds) and
Jordan Vaught (15 points, 8 assists) scored the last 10 points of the game for the Lazers.
Morgan Deland captured her eleventh career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 15 boards.
Onondaga visits Tompkins Cortland Community College on Wednesday at 5pm, before returning home on Saturday, February 18th to celebrate Sophomore Day at 1:00pm.
