Box Score Exploding for 56 second half points after a close first half of play, the Onondaga Community College women's basketball team defeated visiting Herkimer County College College – 96-61 – at the SRC Arena on the OCC campus on Saturday.
While the home team extended a first period 21-15 lead to 40-29 at halftime, the Lazers went to a full court press at the beginning of the second that led to transition baskets and ultimately to the final margin of victory.
Onondaga's front court duo of Syndi Eure (East Syracuse – Minoa) and Samantha Britton (Kenmore West – Buffalo) once again led the Lazers in scoring and rebounding – with Eure totaling a career high 26 points with 12 rebounds and Britton contributing 22 points and 16 rebounds. Michaela Whiteman (G. Ray Bodley – Fulton) came off the bench to make 5 shots from long range on her way to a career high 19 points while distributing 5 assists. Payton Noeller (Cato-Meridian) also dished out 5 assists as Onondaga approved to 9-2 for the season while Herkimer fell to 3-8.
The Lazers return home on Sunday for a semester-ending 1pm tip-off at SRC Arena against SUNY Adirondack.
