Box Score The Onondaga Lazers dominated their home opener against visiting Cayuga Community College, 12-0, on Wednesday afternoon at David W. Murphy Field.
Leading the scoring attack was
Natalie O'Brien with 3 goals and 4 assists;
Jordan Maynes with 3 goals;
Cassidy Rattray with 2 goals and 3 assists;
Natalie Sweeny with 2 goals; and
Riley Foti with 2 goals.
The Lazers controlled play from the opening kickoff compiling 8 of their 12 goals in the first half.
Cassidy Rattray is credited with the game winner in the fifth minute of the game. Goalkeeper
Jillian Firenze had an impressive save in the first half when Spartans Michaela Breeze smashed a shot to the left side of the net. Breeze added on two more valiant efforts to score for the Spartans but the Lazer's defense remained solid late in the game as
Kaelan Smith broke up a 1-on-1 attempt and
Jillian Firenze forced a shot wide of the net on a breakaway to maintain the shutout.
Onondaga will travel to Jamestown Community College on Saturday, September 10
th for a 12pm match.
