Syracuse, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College men's lacrosse team won its twelfth straight NJCAA Region III Championship with a 23-15 win over Genesee Community College Sunday afternoon at David W. Murphy Field. The Lazers used a nine goal third quarter attack to pull away from the Cougars.  Â
Down 3-2 with 5:43 left to play in the first quarter, head coach Chuck Wilbur called for a timeout. Just seconds after play resumed Kyle Killen would tie the game up at 3-3 with help from Larson Sundown. From there, the Lazers would score the final five goals of the first quarter to take an 8-3 lead.
The Cougars would outscore Onondaga 5-3 in the second quarter to cut its deficit to 11-8 going into halftime, but the Lazers used a nine goal attack in the third quarter to pull away 20-10 and would hold on in the fourth quarter to win 23-15.
Kyle Killen, seven goals, and Alexander Waelder, four goals and three assists, each tallied seven points for Onondaga's offense. Larson Sundown registered six points on two goals and four assists, while Dylan Taylor-Wolford (3-1) and Matthew Bennett (1-3) added four points apiece for the Lazers offense.
Samuel Watts (21-23) and Doug Jamieson (13-18) were near perfect from the face-off circle winning 34 of 41 attempts.
Goalie Holden McDonald saved 16 Cougar shots.Â

Killen was named the tournament MVP after compiling 14 points (12 goals and two assists) in the Lazers two games this weekend. Waelder, Watts and Sundown joined Killen on the All-Tournament team for Onondaga. Â
