The Onondaga Community College Women's Basketball Team defeated Dutchess Community College 78-53 in their first matchup of the OCC Classic on Saturday afternoon.

The Lazers had a slight 18-12 lead after the first quarter but ended the first half up 40-21 after a 22 point second. Onondaga continued their control in the third by scoring 22 points and entered the final quarter with a comfortable 62-33 lead.

OCC defense was the star of the game, forcing two shot clock violations, fifteen turnovers and allowing zero points in the paint. As a team the Lazers capitalized on 12 points off turnovers and reeled in 20 offensive rebounds.

Morgan Deland and Sam Britton led the team with 15 and 13 points respectively. Riley Carlucci, Jaleya Bryant and Hope DeFazio each contributed 8 points of their own, and Jordan Vaught chipped in 7.

Onondaga will face SUNY Sullivan in the championship game tomorrow at 12pm in Allyn Hall.
