For the third consecutive season, the nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College women's lacrosse team defeated nationally-ranked Jefferson Community College after outlasting the Cannoneers in the semifinal round of the NJCAA Region III Women's Lacrosse Championship, 12-6, on Saturday at Monroe Community College in Rochester.

With the win, Onondaga, which is seeded second in the four-team tournament, moves to 13-1 on the season and will advance to face the nation's top-ranked team and the Region's top seed at 1 p.m. on Sunday after the Tribunes defeated fourth-seeded Mohawk Valley Community College, 26-3, in the afternoon's other semifinal contest. Jefferson's season ends with the Cannoneers claiming a 10-3 overall mark.

After falling behind 1-0 in the game's first thirty seconds, Onondaga would string together four unanswered goals in a span of nearly 10 minutes including two tallies by
Makenzie Annable to take a 401 lead.

The Cannoneers would halve the deficit with a goal with 9:37 remaining in the opening half goals by
Jordan Osborne and Annable pushed the Lazers' lead up to four goals, 6-2.

With just under five minutes left before halftime, the Cannoneers would score back-to-back goals to cut Onondaga's lead to two goals before breaking for intermission.

The distance would remain at two goals as both teams swapped goals to open the second half.

The Lazers would begin to pull away, however, when Annable tabbed two unassisted goals to fuel a 4-0 run that included goals from
Alisia Griffin and
Nicole DeVona to give Onondaga the six-goal edge, 12-6.

Annable finished with a game-high five goals while Osborne added two goals and an assist.Â
Cheyenne Burnam had one assist in the win and Griffin filled the stat sheet with two goals, two groundballs, two caused turnovers and a game-high six draw controls.

Sophia Wojnovich played all 60 minutes in net and turned away five shots to pick up her 12th win of the season.

The Lazers were in control throughout the game and outshot the Cannoneers, 43-14. Onondaga also controlled the draw winning 16-of-20 opportunities.
