The nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College women's lacrosse team won its eighth straight game as it defeated Mohawk Valley Community College 17-3 on Wednesday in Utica.

With the win, the Lazers improve to 8-0 on the season while the Hawks dropped to 4-4 on the year following the loss.

Onondaga prevailed through harsh weather as there was heavy rain and wind throughout the contest. Despite the tough conditions, the Lazers manage to win 14 out of a total 22 draw controls against Mohawk.

Onondaga's offense was fueled by three goal performances from Makenzie Annable, Cheyenne Burnam and Jordan Osborne. Annable, who leads the team in scoring, increased her season total to 35 goals. Additionally, Burnam recorded a game-high four assists, bringing her team and nation-leading season total to 32. Osborne also finished with an assist in the game.  

The Lazers also received contributions from Alisia Griffin, Nicole DeVona, and Jaycie Annable who scored two goals apiece while Jenn Deuel and Katie Cordone each added a goal. Both Annable and Deuel also managed to tally one assist against the Hawks.

In the net, Sophia Wojnovich improved her season record to 7-0 as she made seven saves for Onondaga while sophomore keeper Gretchen Krzykowski also managed to pick up two saves in the contest.

The Lazers look to improve to 9-0 on the season when they travel to Buffalo at 1 p.m. on Saturday to take on Erie Community College.
