The Onondaga Community College baseball team pushed its winning streak to five games after handing SUNY Broome a 12-2 loss in the opening game before falling in the second game of a Mid-State Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday night at the Baseball Complex.
With the wins, Onondaga improves its standing to 21-17 while the Hornets fall to 4-16 overall.
Game One: SUNY Broome 2, Onondaga 12 (Five Innings)After a scoreless first inning of play, Onondaga would erupt for four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second frame with the
Austin Bush delivering the big blow in the form of a two-run triple. As the inning continued, Onondaga would score two more runs with both
Justin Mathers and

Zack Ortiz scored
Dylan Nardocci on a base hit to centerfield to bring it to 7-2.
Fitzgibbons would cut the deficit to four runs in the fourth inning after crossing home plate on an RBI knock by Thompson before the freshman outfielder would bring the Lazers to within two runs with a two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth.
SUNY Broome would plate two more runs in the seventh before closing things out in the home half of the frame to walk away a 9-6 winner.
Nate Budge took the loss after lasting two-thirds of inning before being relieved by
Ryan Martin who tossed 5.2 innings.
The Lazers and Hornets will do battle again at 4 p.m. on Thursday when they play a conference doubleheader in Binghamton.
