Taylor Dewispelare (Central Square) was honored before the game, the Onondaga Lazers women's basketball team defeated the visiting Herkimer Generals 97-55.

Dewispelare played her last home game for Onondaga and will be serving our country this spring as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

The Lazers got off to a 9 point lead in the first quarter and led by as many as 16 points in the second stanza before Herkimer trimmed the margin to 43-32 at halftime.

Onondaga roared out in the second half to take a 25 point lead after three quarters and outscored the Generals 54-23 in the second half to secure the win.

Melissa Bakowski (West Genesee) led the Lazers with team highs in points (20) and rebounds (10), while
Samantha Roberts (Cicero-North Syracuse) also produced a double double – 15 points and 13 assists.Â
Jordan Vaught (Bishop Grimes) made four 3-pointers on her way to a 16 point performance, and
Kumba Marong (Bronx Leadership Academy) chipped in with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Onondaga made ten 3-point shots and rewarded each other with 24 assists as they improved to 12-1 for the season while Herkimer fell to 6-7.

With finals and the holidays on the schedule for the next several weeks, the Lazers won't be in action again until January 4 when they take on St. Petersburg College in Florida.
