Box Score 3 The Lazer volleyball team completed NJCAA Region III POD play at Erie Community College on Saturday afternoon and came out victorious in two out of three matches. Onondaga opened the day with a 25-18, 25-10, 25-21 sweep of Niagara County Community College and followed that up with a 4-set win over host Erie, 25-17, 15-25, 25-18, 25-16. In the final match of the day, the Lazers fell to Jamestown Community College, 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22. Onondaga finishes the regular season with an overall record of 19-15, including a record of 13-5 in POD play.
The Lazers will compete for the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship next Saturday at Corning Community College. Onondaga, the #4 seed, will play top seed and host Corning in one semi-final at noon. #2 SUNY Broome and #3 Jefferson Community College will meet in the other semi-final. The two semi-final winners will then meet for the MSAC Championship.
On Tuesday the Lazers will also learn of their seeding for the NJCAA Region III Division III Volleyball Tournament. First round games in the regional tournament, if needed, will be played on Tuesday, October 27th, at the home courts of higher seeds. Niagara County Community College will then host the Final 8, with pool play on Saturday, October 31st, and semi-finals and finals on Sunday, November 1st.
