Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Last-Second Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to Win

Elvedin Hasanovic scored the game-winning goal with less than five seconds left in the game to lift the Onondaga Community College men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over SUNY ESF Monday afternoon at David W. Murphy Field.

With the win, Onondaga moves to 5-4 on the season while the Mighty Oaks fall to 6-2.

Heading into the final minutes of play, the score had been tied at two goals apiece after both teams converted on a penalty kick in the second stanza to level the score.

The Lazers were awarded a free-kick opportunity with time winding down in the second half after the Mighty Oaks were whistled for a foul.  Hasanovic would score his second goal of the afternoon as he fired a strike from nearly 25 yards out that just sailed past the outstretched hands of SUNY ESF's keeper to give Onondaga a 3-2 win.

In the opening half, the Mighty Oaks were the first to strike, scoring in the game's opening minutes on a crossing pass.

Both teams would exchange possessions as the half wore on until Gerardo Ramirez knotted things up in the 30th minute after kicking home his own rebound.

Jeff Valencia picked up his second win of the season after making three saves.  Jimmy Brady also saw action in net for Onondaga and made three stops of his own.

Onondaga will return to Mid-State Athletic Conference action at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday when they host Corning Community College at David W. Murphy Field.
