Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Kingston's Overtime Goal Lifts Women's Soccer to Win

Carlee Kingston scored the game-winning goal with one second left in the first overtime period as the nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College women's soccer team handed Jefferson Community College its first loss of the season, 3-2, on Wednesday evening at David W. Murphy Field.

The win marks Onondaga's fourth consecutive victory and puts the Lazers at 5-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference standings while Jefferson drops to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in MSAC play.

As regulation came to an end, a winner was yet to be determined as both teams readied for overtime.

The No. 10 Lazers reeled off five shots in the overtime period, but none found nylon until Kingston found herself one on one with Jefferson's goalie after Jaycee Annable dumped the ball into the right side of the field.  The Syracuse native's tally came as time expired to propel the Lazers to the win in thrilling fashion.

After battling back-and-forth to open the game, Onondaga took a 1-0 lead late in the first half when Bridget Field notched her sixth goal of the season on a feed from Kayla Sharkey.

The advantage would be short lived, however, as the Cannoneers would notch the equalizer in the game's 37th minute after peppering Margaret Choroser with back-to-back shots, the last of which found its mark.

The score would remain tied at one goal apiece until the 83rd minute when Sharkey once again found an open player as this time Annable put the Lazers ahead, 2-1, but once again the lead wouldn't hold as Jefferson would answer moments later after corralling a loose ball in the 85th minute.

The Lazers return to the field at 12 p.m. on Saturday and will play Finger Lakes Community College in a Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) showdown in Canandaigua.  Fans can follow the action using live stats by clicking here.
