The Onondaga Community College men's soccer team scored two second half goals en route to a 3-1 win over Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) opponent Jefferson Community College on Wednesday at David W. Murphy Field.
With the win, Onondaga moves to 1-1 in the conference standings and 4-3 overall while Jefferson dips to 0-2 in MSAC play and 1-2-2 overall.
The Cannoneers would strike first, taking an early 1-0 lead in only the second minute of play after a defensive breakdown by the Lazers.
The lead would hold until late in the first half when the Lazers began to turn up the intensity.
Zachary Rotolli unloaded a shot that Jefferson's keeper was able to turn away, but
Gerardo Ramirez was there to put back the ensuing rebound to tie the score at one goal apiece in the 37th minute.
Much like in opening stanza, it wouldn't take long for a goal to be scored in the second frame as
Romeo Kpolo buried a penalty shot in the 46th minute to put Onondaga up 2-1.
The Lazers would add to their lead in the 62nd minute when Kpolo laced a crossing pass to
Nate Waite who booted the pass into the back of the cage to give Onondaga a two-goal advantage, which held until the final horn.
Chris Spaulding played the entire game in net for Onondaga and made three saves.
The Lazers return to play at 2 p.m. on Saturday and will play Finger Lakes Community College in a Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) showdown in Canandaigua.  Fans can follow the action using live stats by clicking
