Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Four Games

Box Score The Onondaga Community College women's volleyball team pushed its winning streak to four consecutive games on Thursday after dropping Davis College, 3-0, in Allyn Hall.

The Lazers took the first set, 25-8, on the strength of an eight-point run led by back-to-back kills by Sydney Burritt.  The Falcons looked to close the gap, but Onondaga pulled away late in the frame.

Davis made things interesting in the second set, taking an early lead before Onondaga scored eight of the set's next 10 points en route to 2-0 lead.

In the deciding set, Onondaga was firing on all cylinders as the Lazers jumped out to a 12-2 lead.  After exchanging points, Davis went on a run of its own, notching three straight points to make it 16-7, but that was as close as it would get as the Lazers went on a 9-0 run to close out the set and the game highlighted by three service aces from Melissa Krak.

Jessica Cost led the way for Onondaga with 19 assists.  The sophomore setter also pitched in with two kills, three aces and three digs.  Isabella Winklestine posted five kills as did Allison Massara, while Krak notched five kills of her own along with a team-high seven digs.

As a team, the Lazers had 18 aces and made only one receiving error the entire game.

The Lazers will return to action 6 p.m. on Wednesday when they open up conference play against Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua.
