The Onondaga Community College men's soccer game posted its sixth straight win and 10th overall on Wednesday as the Lazers shut out Erie Community College, 3-0, at David W. Murphy Field.
The win moves Onondaga to 10-4 overall while Erie drops to 3-8-1.
Onondaga's lone goal of the first half came in the 33rd minute when
Zachary Rotolli scored his first goal of the season after he corralled a Kat turnover and was able to sneak the ball between two Erie defenders to give the Lazers a 1-0 lead.
Defense would be the theme as the game wore on as the score remained 1-0 for nearly 37 minutes before
Dan Desmarais broke the scoreless drought, giving Onondaga a 2-0 lead, when he beat Erie's goalkeeper with
Nate Waite earning an assist on the play.
Moments later, Rotolli would score his second goal of the game when he lined a ball from 25 yards out that sailed over the outstretched hands of Erie's goalie.Â
Jake Mrowinski would be credited with the assist.
Chris Spaulding moves to 7-3 on the season after making four saves in net for the Lazers.
The Lazers will continue regional play at 3 p.m. on Saturday against the Genesee Community College Cougars in Batavia.
