The Onondaga Community College men's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games on Saturday after scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes of play to earn a hard-fought 2-1 win over visiting Niagara County Community College at David W. Murphy Field.
With the win, Onondaga improves to 9-4 overall while the Thunder Wolves fall to 1-9 on the season.
After a scoreless first half of play, both teams lobbied for the go-ahead goal but neither defense would give an inch until the 80th minute when the Thunder Wolves were able to score the game's first goal on a free-kick opportunity from 15 yards out.
The lead would be short-lived, however, as the Lazers would tally the equalizer in the 83rd minute when
Elvedin Hasanovic juked his way past the Thunder Wolves' defense before burying his sixth goal of the season.
The Lazers would notch the eventual game-winning goal in the 87th minute after defenseman
Tim Ritch headed home a corner kick off the foot of
Owen Thompson to lift Onondaga to a 2-1 win.
Chris Spaulding moves to 6-3 overall in net for the Lazers.Â
Jeff Valencia also played well in goal for the Lazers as the Levittown native held the Thunder Wolves scoreless for 55 minutes of play.
Onondaga will return to the fold at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts Erie Community College in a Region III matchup at David W. Murphy Field.
