The Onondaga Community College women's soccer team opened play in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 3 Tournament this afternoon and came away with a 4-1 victory over Herkimer County Community College.  The Lazers, who finished 4th in the Region 3 West Division, advances to play at Mohawk Valley Community College, the East Division champion, at 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon.  Herkimer saw its season come to an end with an overall record of 8-6-1.

Onondaga, now 13-6 on the season, will be seeking to avenge a season opening 4-2 loss at Mohawk Valley, back on August 28th.  Mohawk Valley, 13-2 on the season, is currently the #2 ranked team in the nation in NJCAA women's soccer.  Onondaga received honorable mention in the most recent national poll.  The winner of the Onondaga-Mohawk Valley game will advance to the Region 3A Championship Game, next Saturday at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
