Mike Sugamosto was added to the Onondaga Community College Athletic Department in April of 2025.
In his first season with the Lazers, Sugamosto led OCC to 21-9, the same number of wins in the previous three seasons combined. The Lazers finished with a conference record of 13-1, earning 2025-26 MSAC Champions, including a win over the 25-26 Region 3 Champions, Genesee Community College. The 13-1 MSAC record earned him MSAC Coach of the Year along with 6 of his players earning All-Conference Honors. OCC returned to the Region 3 Tournament for the first time since the 2021-22 season and entered as the No. 4 seed, earning a first round bye. The Lazers took on SUNY Adirondack in the quarterfinal, taking an 80-77 win over the Timberwolves and advancing to the semifinal. Facing the No. 1 seed, North Country, OCC fell short in the semifinal, finishing the season 21-9. Two Lazers, Nyqwan Morris and Siyani Arthur earned All-Region honors.
Sugamosto is a native of Syracuse. He came to Onondaga from his head coaching position at Corning Community College, where led the Red Barons to a Region III Tournament berth. Prior to Corning, Sugamosto spent two years as the Lead Assistant Coach of the SUNY Morrisville Men's Basketball Program. During his time, he complied a record of 31-19 and was a member of the '23-24 NAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Sugamosto was responsible for the recruitment of the '23-24 NAC Player of the Year, a 2nd Team award winner, and a 3rd Team award winner. He also assisted in the development of a team that averaged 3rd in the nation in PPG and 5th in the nation in assist to turnover ratio.
Prior to SUNY Morrisville, Sugamosto served as the General Manager and Managing Partner of the Syracuse Stallions, a minor league basketball organization where teams managed by him complied an overall record of 90-18 featuring one national championship appearance, two final four appearances, and four northeastern region championships. During his four years, Sugamosto was named National Executive of the Year and National General Manager of the Year.
Sugamosto is no stranger to the campus as a former student of Onondaga Community College studying Business Administration and member of the 2012-13 Men's Basketball team.
