John LaRose has been at Onondaga for 29 years coaching intercollegiate tennis. He is a retired teacher from Onondaga Central Schools (34 years). He coached high school tennis for twenty years with ten league championships. He is a former District 13 Director for the United States Tennis Association, a former tennis instructor for the Town of Onondaga, and a former Admissions Assistant at Onondaga.
Coach LaRose is presently an Adjunct Physical Education Professor and Coordinator of all community based tennis programs on campus. He has received numerous awards and citations from the local, Regional and National levels including the USTA. LaRose was inducted into the NJCAA National Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Onondaga Hall of Fame in 2008 and co-coached the 2008 NJCAA National Championship Men’s Team.
During his time at Onondaga Coach LaRose has guided 200 NJCAA All-Region III selections, 32 All-Americans, 11 NJCAA Individual National Champions, and guided the 2008 Lazers to a NJCAA Division III Team National Title.
