Auburn, NY - Men's Soccer suffered a 3-2 loss to the undefeated Cayuga Spartans on their home turf in a nothing short of dramatic match.
The No. 3 Spartans were first on the board scoring in the 26th minute. The Lazers responded with 5 minutes remaining in the 1st half sending it to halftime with a 1-1 tie score on a goal from Freshman
Oleksandr Matyiuk with the assist from
Josiah Rogatti. In the second half, Cayuga took the lead again with 25 minutes to spare. With less than six minutes remaining, the Lazers responded again on a corner kick from
Faisal Samim tipped in by
Kyle Partington to tie it up 2-2.
Cayuga would put up their winning goal in the final 4 minutes, not allowing the Lazers to respond and taking their first loss of the season.
The men will have another tough matchup against the Genesee Cougars next Wednesday, October 2nd at 4pm on the road.
