Alfred, NY - Men's Wrestling traveled to their first program meet at Alfred State for a Tri-Meet with the Pioneers and the Giants of Keystone College.
OCC started off the day against Keystone, a D3 team from PA. Neither team had a 100% full lineup, but using contest weights 149-184 which resulted in wins from
Luis Rivera via tech fall,
Joe Martini via injury default,
Noah Horning via pin, And
Cameron Beecher by decision. All of which were first collegiate wins by these men and good enough to secure OCC's first dual win 42-9
The second match was against Alfred State who proved to be a very tough opponent and matchup for the Lazers, dropping this dual to a score of 52-6. However,
Enver Bulatov was able to get some mat time at 197lbs and secured his first win aside from his forfeit in the first dual, which came via pin. This was the only match the Lazers were able to clinch. The matches were hard-fought, but the home team kept showing up tough weight after weight. The experienced and well-led Alfred State wrestlers proved to be too much for the first-year Lazers.Â
The men will compete at the NYS Collegiate Wrestling Championship at SUNY Oneonta for their next competition.
