Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lazers Season Comes to End with Loss to Hudson Valley

Syracuse, NY - Men's Soccer hosted Hudson Valley Community College in the sub-regional round of the Region III Tournament. The No. 7 seeded Lazers earned the home field advantage as the higher seed over the No. 10 Hudson Valley Vikings. After an extremely physical 90 minutes of play, Onondaga suffered a season ending 1-0 loss to the Vikings.

After a scoreless first 40 minutes of play with several scoring opportunities for the Lazers, the Vikings took advantage of an opportunity driving down the field after a long clock stoppage and scoring their one and only goal with 4:41 remaining in the first half. Onondaga was issued two yellow cards in the first half and one for the Vikings.

The first half was just the start of the physicality with 6 total cards issued in the second half of play as well as one after the game had expired for a total of 10 cards on the day. A brawl on the field with 14:29 remaining led to a red card ejection for Ewan O'Dwyer-Hall. With time expiring quickly, the Lazers ran out of time and opportunities and took the season-ending loss.

The Lazers finish their season with an 8-5-3 record in Head Coach Tom Bonus' first season. The Lazers spent several weeks as one of the top 10 programs in NJCAA Division III including their highest rank to date as the No. 6 in week 5. The Lazers had a dominant start to the season not experiencing their first loss until their 10th match. Sophomore Faisal Samim finishes 4th in the nation in assists with a total of 18 on the season. Sophomore Ewan O'Dwyer-Hall finishes 15th in the nation in goals scored with a total of 12 on the season and 29 total points on the year (12 G, 5 A).
