Syracuse, NY - The men hosted the previously 10-0-1 Genesee Cougars ranked 2nd in the nation on Wilbur Field. Handing them their second non-win of the season, the Lazers tied the Cougars 2-2.
The physical game began from kickoff giving Genesee a scoring opportunity early on a penalty kick, but Goalkeeper
Jordan Williams refused to fall behind first with an amazing save. This sparked more Lazer momentum that resulted in them being first on the board on a goal from
Joe Mohamed assisted by
Jack Hopson. The Lazers haven't scored the first goal of the contest since their match vs SUNY Adirondack on September 16th. This early lead has proven to be crucial for the Lazers' success. The rest of the half remained scoreless with several opportunities for the Lazers unable to convert, but holding onto this momentum and owning offensive possession.
With an eerily similar sequence of events in the women's contest, the Cougars found their first goal in the 2nd half with a very quick repsonse from the Lazers go back up 2-1 over Genesee on an O'Dwyer-Hall goal from
Samuel Gregson with 30 remaining and the Lazers holding strong on their home field. But the No. 2 Cougars clawed their way back in with another answer with 17 remaining and tying it up again. With either team able to come out on top, the match resulted in a 2-2 draw. Keeper
Jordan Williams had 7 saves in goal.
The Lazers' last conference matchup will take place Sunday, October 15th at Tompkins-Cortland Community College following the women.
