Rochester, N.Y. – The Monroe Community College women's lacrosse team used a five goal second-half run to pull away from Onondaga in the NJCAA women's lacrosse championship game Sunday afternoon. The Tribunes went on to win their fourth straight NJCAA title with a score of 14-7
Onondaga's Jaycie Annable started the game's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 28:25 mark to open the game. After a Tribunes goal to tie it at one, Madison Pritchard booked her first of three goals with 24:03 on the clock. Following a Devon McKercher (MCC) goal to again tie the game, Pritchard would put the Lazers back up 3-2 with an unassisted goal at 21:52. Monroe then used a three goal run to take a 5-3 lead. Victoria Thompson stopped the Tribunes run with an unassisted goal at the 12:10 mark in the first half to make it 5-4. After Monroe and Onondaga traded goals for a 6-5 score, the Tribunes notched two more goals to end the half up 8-5.
Monroe then scored five straight goals out of the half to go up eight goals and pull away from Onondaga. Christie Hahn, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Offensive Player, assisted on two of the goals and scored another as Monroe took control. Cheyenne Burnam and Nina Schaefer would add their names to the scores book but it wasn't enough as the Tribunes went on to win 14-7.
Goalie Mia Pascuzzi finished with 10 saves on 24 shots on goal.
Madison Pritchard, Jaycie Annable, Cheyenne Burnam and Kristyn Drake were named to the All-Tournament team for Onondaga.
The Lazers finish the season 13-4.
