Box Score Onondaga Lazers defeats SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry in a shootout on Wednesday evening to keep the King of the Hill Cup at home.

Onondaga and SUNY ESF played to a 1-1 tie through the first half of play. Joseph Kulikowski scored first for the Mighty Oaks at the 12:30 mark with the help of Joe Marino. The Lazers quickly responded to tie the game at one all. It all started with a side switch by
Yahiya Donzo on the left side of the field to
Hassan Musa on the right. Musa followed up with a cross to the front of the net where
Nick Bitz could tap in the tying goal.
The Mighty Oaks took a quick lead in the second half, scoring two back-to-back goals from Joseph Kulikowski, his second of the night, and Thys Reynold scoring three minutes later.
Hassan Musa responded with two goals of his own. Musa's first came in the 51
st minute of the game from
Yahiya Donzo, and followed up with his second goal off a direct kick from the top of the penalty box to tie the game 3-3. The Lazers maintained the offensive pressure throughout the second half but were unable to capitalize, sending the game into overtime.
Captain defenseman
Kyle Johnson kept Onondaga alive in overtime. After
Bhuwan Basnet popped a save into the air, Johnson kicked the ball away from the open net preventing a game winning goal for SUNY ESF. Overtime play remained even sending the game into a shootout where freshman keeper
Bhuwan Basnet made a save in the third round, followed by all five Lazers (
Kyle Demo,
Nick Bitz,
Karebo Wilson,
Hassan Musa, and
Yahiya Donzo) finding the back of the net for the victory.Â
