The Onondaga Community College men's tennis team went 1-2 over the weekend as the Lazers took part in the Nassau-Suffolk Invitational Tournament in Seldon.

Onondaga, which is now 2-8 on the season, fell in the opening day of play to Nassau Community College and Suffolk Community College by identical scores, 9-0, before rebounding on Sunday with a 7-2 triumph over the Community College of Rhode Island.

Against the Knights, the Lazers would take five points in singles competition, albeit, three by way of forfeit.Â
Jon VanKouwenberg rebounded from a first set loss to take the next two frames, 6-1, 10-8, for a point at second singles while
Darren Pikul also picked up a point, winning his match at third singles in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0.

Onondaga would earn two more points in doubles competition as well.

The Lazers will open up play at Santaro Park at 4 p.m. on Tuesday against SUNY Broome.
