The Onondaga Community College women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten on the season after defeating Niagara Community College 29-0 on Wednesday at David W. Murphy Field.
With the win, the Lazers are now 6-0 on the year while the Thunderwolves drop to 0-3 with the loss.
Onondaga was aggressive right from the opening whistle as they were able to net 12 goals within the first 11 minutes of the game, taking a 12-0 lead. The offensive flurry in the first half didn't stop there as the Lazers scored 22 goals before halftime, the most they've scored in a half this season. Onondaga would eventually go on to score seven more goals in the second half, rolling to a 29-0 victory, the most the team has scored in a game this season.
The Lazers dominating offensive production was driven by a balanced attack throughout the contest. In total, the Lazers finished with 15 different goal scorers.
Leading the way was
Cheyenne Burnam who scored four goals and added three assists for Onondaga. The freshman has tallied a team leading 36 points with 14 goals and 22 assists on the season.
Makenzie Annable,
Jordan Osborne, and
Julia Catalano each contributed three goals each to the Lazers' scoring efforts while
Nicole DeVona,
Megan Fero,
Aleasha Fredenburg, and
Kristen Sedar each finished with two goals on the day.
The shutout was the first of the season for the Lazers as goalkeepers
Sophia Wojnovich and
Gretchen Krzykowski split time in net while Wojnovich picking up the win and improving to 5-0 on the season.
Onondaga will look to improve to 7-0 on the season at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Herkimer County Community College at David W. Murphy Field.
