The Onondaga Community College women's tennis team dropped a close match in its season-opener on Wednesday as the Lazers fell to SUNY Broome Community College, 6-3, in Binghamton.
 
Freshman Kaitlin Ferrara had an impressive debut, posting a win at first singles after a two-set sweep, 7-5, 6-2. 
 
Rachel Parrillo earned the Lazers another point with a win at sixth singles after besting her opponent, 6-4, 6-4, before pairing up with Haley Everts for a win in their third doubles matchup, 9-8 (9-7).
 
Onondaga will open the home portion of its schedule at 4 p.m. on Saturday when they take on 2014 Regional Champion Hudson Valley Community College at Onondaga Central School.
