Box Score The Onondaga Community College men's soccer team nearly pulled off an upset of nationally-ranked SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury on Saturday before two goals late in the second half gave the Timberwolves a 3-1 lead.

With the loss, Onondaga slips to 1-1 on the season, while No. 10 SUNY Adirondack evens its record at 1-1.

It didn't take long for the Timberwolves to take the lead as the home team scored in the game's opening minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lazers, however, regrouped and went to work on the offensive end, tying the game at 1-1 in the 27th minute when
Joey Amato delivered a strike that found the back of the net off of a pass from
Owen Thompson.

Neither team was able to gain an advantage until late in the first frame when the Timberwolves laced a long shot was just beyond the outstretched hands of
Jeff Valencia to make it 3-1. SUNY Adirondack would net an insurance mark in the 81st minute to seal the victory.

Jake Mrowinski and Amato paced Onondaga with two shots. Valencia got the start in net and allowed two goals as the freshman was saddled with the loss to move to 0-1 on the season. Spaulding played the second half in goal, but did not factor in the decision.

The Lazers will return to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday when they travel to Herkimer to take on the nation's top-ranked team, the Herkimer County Community College Generals.
