With the leaves changing and the temperatures starting to dip, the Onondaga Community College fall teams are nearing the conclusion of their respective regular seasons. Volleyball, men's and women's soccer are all on the road this weekend with regional seeding still to be determined.
The women's soccer team will look to close out its regular season with a win at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they take on Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
The Lazers enter the contest with a 10-5-1 record while the Vikings, who had been ranked in the top-10 all season before dropping out of the latest NJCAA rankings, hold a 9-3-1 mark.
This will be the first meeting between these two teams since 2012 when the Lazers claimed a 3-2 win.
Volleyball is set to face three regional opponents at the Jefferson Community College POD in Watertown on Saturday.
Onondaga will open play beginning at 11:30 a.m. against Erie before tackling Niagara County at 1 p.m. and Jamestown at 4 p.m.
The Lazers are coming off an impressive outing at the Cara Bryant Memorial Volleyball Tournament where they finished in third place after winning three of six matches.
Onondaga, now 21-11 on the season, has defeated both Erie and Niagara County earlier this season. The Lazers last faced Jamestown nearly a year ago to the day and posted a straight-set win over the Jayhawks.
Finally, the Onondaga Community College men's soccer team will look to end a two-game skid at 3 p.m. on Saturday when they visit Hudson Valley in the final road contest of the regular season.
Coming off a 2-0 loss to nationally-ranked Division I Monroe Community College on Wednesday, the Lazers are poised to regain their winning ways, having posted six consecutive wins earlier in the season.
These two teams last met in 2012 with the Lazers emerging the victor, 2-0.
Entering Saturday's contest, Onondaga is mere percentages points (.023) from claiming the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Region III Championship, but will need some help from SUNY-Delhi to move up.
