Brine Rice (Khanawake, Quebec, Howard S. Billings) of the top-ranked men’s lacrosse team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week after leading the Lazers to a win in their only contest of the week that ended March 8, 2015.
Rice scored a career-high six points including a team-high five goals as the No. 1 Lazers handed No. 6 Howard its first loss of the season, 26-4.
After netting a goal in each of the first two quarters of play, Rice found nylon three times in the third quarter including back-to-back tallies in a span of two minutes.
The freshman attackman filled the box score as well after firing eight shots, scooping up two ground balls and causing three turnovers.
Rice and the rest of his teammates will return to the turf at 4 p.m. on Monday when they open up Mid-State Athletic Conference play against Finger Lakes Community College at David W. Murphy Field.
