Samantha Roberts (Cicero-North Syracuse/North Syracuse) of the Onondaga Community College women’s basketball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after leading the nationally-ranked Lazers to a perfect 3-0 week.

Roberts averaged 7.3 points, seven assists and over three steals per game for the Lazers as they pushed their winning streak to eight games while remaining a perfect 6-0 in MSAC play.

Early in the week, the freshman was key in Onondaga’s 75-69 thrilling overtime victory over nationally-ranked Mohawk Valley on Monday in the SRC Arena and Events Center. She was able to score eight points while dishing out five helpers in the win.

Roberts would then go on to contribute a game-high nine assists against Finger Lakes on Wednesday in addition to a 10 point, seven assist and five steal performance in a Saturday win over Cayuga.

The North Syracuse native is now averaging a team-leading 6.4 assists per game on the season, which ranks second in the region. She also is averaging 9.1 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and has totaled 53 steals.

Roberts and the rest of the women’s basketball team will look to extend their winning streak to nine games at 12 p.m. on Saturday when they hit the road to take on MSAC opponent Corning.
