Chris Spaulding (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville) of the Onondaga Community College men’s soccer team has been named the College’s Male Athlete Week for action concluding October 12, 2014.
Spaulding picked up his seventh win of the season last week as the Lazers posted a 1-1 record after shutting out Erie Community College at home and falling to Genesee Community College of the road.
Against the Kats, Spaulding was terrific, posting four saves en route to his second shutout of the season.
The Baldwinsville native was equally impressive against the Cougars on Saturday, making a career-high 13 saves in net, but Onondaga’s offense couldn’t lift its goalie to a win.
For the season, Spaulding ranks among the best goalies in the nation. He boasts a 1.18 goals against average, which ranks 22nd in the NJCAA and has notched a team-high .793 save percentage, which ranks the freshman keeper 33rd overall in the country.
Spaulding and the rest of the men’s soccer team will be put to the test at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when they face nationally-ranked Monroe Community College in Rochester.Â
