Onondaga Community College

Kiersten Spears (Union-Springs/Cayuga) of the Onondaga Community College women’s soccer team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on September 28, 2014.

Spears saw action at goalkeeper in all three of Onondaga’s games this week, while starting and winning two of the contests including her first-career win. The goalkeeper had a strong showing on Wednesday when she shut out Corning Community College, leading to a 5-0 Lazers victory. Then, on Saturday she came through with four saves to help Onondaga defeat Tompkins Cortland Community College 2-1.
 
On the week, the freshman only allowed one goal and saved 12 shots after playing 225 minutes.

Spears and the rest of the women’s soccer team will look to extend their winning streak to three games at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when the Lazers travel to Binghamton to face SUNY Broome.
