Buffalo, NY - The Lazers began day 2 of the Regional Championship at Glen Oak Golf Course in 4th place and 10 strokes behind the leader, Niagara County Community College. The weather called for gusts of 35mph which provided tough scoring conditions. The Lazers knew they would need to shoot a solid round if they wanted to make a comeback.
Kobe Myers and
Daniel Angelo were the first two Lazers to tee off in the morning and carded rounds of 82 and 84 to improve by 12 strokes versus their day 1 rounds.
Mason Ellis also improved 2 strokes with his round of 85, and
Billy Guild improved 5 strokes with a round of 77.
Julian Galletta finished day 2 with solid round of 80 to give the Lazers a team score of 323 and an 11 stroke victory over Niagara County Community College and others. Overall, the Lazers had
Julian Galletta, 4th place individually, and
Billy Guild, 7th place individually, finish inside the top 15, earning them all region designation.
Coach
Ben Herrmann and
Chase Parzych earned the Region III Coach of the Year award with their team's composed and confident play throughout the 2023 season. Winning the Regional Championship also earns the Lazers a spot to compete as a team in the NJCAA div 3 national championship at Chautauqua Lake Golf Course on June 5th-9th.
