Onondaga Community College

Nicole DeVona (East Syracuse-Minoa/East Syracuse) of the nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College women’s lacrosse team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for action taking place during the week that ended May 10, 2015.

DeVona as the Lazers’ leading scorer over the weekend as Onondaga finished as the NJCAA Women’s Lacrosse Runner-Up after falling to Monroe in the national championship game on Sunday.

DeVona, who was named to the All-Tournament team combined to score seven goals and two assists on 12 shots in Onondaga’s two games.  The sophomore midfielder also corralled six draw controls and had one groundball and one caused turnover.

In the Lazers’ semifinal win against Harford, DeVona posted five points on three goals and two assists and would go on to tally a team-high four goals and six draws in the title game.

DeVona finished the 2015 campaign with 42 total points including 33 goals and nine assists and was named First-Team All-American by the NJCAA.
