Onondaga Community College

Justin Garn (Marcellus/Syracuse) of the nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College men’s cross country team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 9, 2014.

Garn led the No. 8 Lazers to a seventh place finish in the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship on Saturday, finishing in 17th place overall out of 139 competitors from all over the country.  The seventh place finish is tied for the best finish in program history as the 2013 team also captured seventh place overall in the national championship.

The Syracuse native narrowly missed being named All-American by the NJCAA after completing the 8k event in29:34.3.

The finish marked the fourth time this season that Garn was Onondaga’s top finisher while his time in the national championship was his second-fastest finishing time this season.
